Technology around the work

## The right technology plan starts with the firm’s actual obligations.

Financial-services organizations do not all operate under the same regulatory scope. Registration, activities, clients, data, service relationships, and contractual requirements shape what the firm needs to address.

SmartCloud works with leadership, compliance professionals, counsel, employees, and other providers to implement and document the technology responsibilities that belong in that plan.

Where the work connects

## Practical controls, organized evidence, and dependable operation.

### Controlled access

Align identity, authentication, accounts, permissions, and reviews with the people, systems, and information involved in the firm’s work.

### Managed devices and cloud services

Apply consistent configuration, monitoring, maintenance, backup, and lifecycle ownership across endpoints and important applications.

### Incident readiness

Connect technical response, internal responsibilities, service-provider coordination, records, and communication procedures before an event occurs.

### Vendor oversight

Keep service ownership, access, safeguards information, dependencies, escalation, and review expectations visible across providers.

### Evidence and recordkeeping

Organize inventories, policies, configurations, test records, provider information, and other evidence around the firm’s own obligations.

### Resilient operations

Plan for availability, backup, recovery, secure remote work, and the technology dependencies that support clients and daily decisions.

Important context

## Regulatory status matters more than headcount.

For covered SEC-regulated institutions, the Regulation S-P amendments adopted in 2024 add requirements involving incident response, customer notification under specified conditions, service-provider oversight, and recordkeeping. Smaller covered entities reached their compliance date on June 3, 2026.

Those requirements do not apply identically to every financial or advisory firm. SmartCloud helps implement and document technology controls that support the firm’s obligations, but does not determine regulatory status, provide legal advice, or certify compliance.
